About Chicago Rebuild Collective

Chicago’s historic homes—from worker cottages to classic greystones—are a masterclass in architecture. Their proportions, materials, and craftsmanship give the city its character. Renovating them well requires more than new finishes. It requires understanding how they were built and how they should evolve.

Chicago Rebuild Collective was founded to bring that level of care and discipline to residential remodeling.

We are a design-build firm focused on thoughtful renovation of Chicago’s older housing stock. Our work centers on kitchens, interior reconfigurations, and custom carpentry—projects where design decisions, structural considerations, and craftsmanship all intersect.

A Process Built for Complex Renovations

Most renovation problems don’t happen during construction.
They happen before construction begins, when critical decisions haven’t been fully resolved.

That’s why every project begins with a Design & Pre-Construction phase.

During this phase we work through layout, structural conditions, cabinetry design, mechanical conflicts, and construction logistics before work begins. By resolving those issues on paper first, we create a clear scope of work, a realistic timeline, and a more predictable budget.

Our collective model allows us to assemble the right specialized trades for each project while maintaining a single point of coordination and accountability.

The goal is simple:
fewer surprises, better craftsmanship, and renovations that feel like they belong in the home.

Let’s Build Something That Belongs in Chicago

The best renovations don’t feel new—they feel inevitable, as if the home was always meant to be that way.

That’s the standard we work toward on every project.

A man with a beard and glasses wearing a hat, red T-shirt, black overalls, and gloves is using a circular saw to cut wood outdoors. He is standing at a workbench with green trees and a fence in the background.
A man wearing glasses, a black cap, a brown shirt, and construction gloves is working on a woodworking project, cutting a piece of wood with a table saw inside a bright room with large windows showing trees outside.

Ryan Palma

Owner / Lead Carpenter / Design / Project Management

Ryan Palma founded Chicago Rebuild Collective after realizing that thoughtful renovation work combined everything he cares about—design, problem solving, and building things that last.

After years of learning the craft, working on projects, and studying how buildings actually come together, he developed a deep respect for the way Chicago homes were originally constructed.

Today Ryan leads each project from early planning through construction. His focus is on clear design thinking, careful planning, and the kind of craftsmanship that respects the architecture of the home.

Every renovation is an opportunity to improve how a home functions while preserving the character that made it worth renovating in the first place.
